The national council of The Spice Route India movement was nominated in October 2019, a few months before the pandemic hit. Physical activities and events were planned, but alas, the lockdown was enforced in March 2020 and the rest is history.
But we decided to e-meet and we conducted our council meetings as well as monthly academic sessions online. These events helped us make our network and kept the pulse of the movement going.
Finally, in August 2021, we organized a physical event, at Bangalore Baptist hospital. Our National Chair, Dr Serin Kuriakose visited the city and we used this opportunity to have a meet and greet session with family medicine residents, young practitioners as well as senior leaders.
First, an overview of the young doctor’s movement was given by the National Secretary, Dr Jyotika Gupta. The activities, policies, purpose of the organization was elaborated. Next , updates and tips were given by Dr Serin Kuriakose as well as Col (Dr) Mohan Kubendra [National Vice President AFPI].
Then the residents were asked about their opinion, suggestion and feedback for taking this movement forward. Research activities, participation in conferences, marketing events, curriculum improvement, need for exposure to community practice and many more points were discussed and planned.
It was heartening to see active participation by all residents representing the 6 DNB/ MD institutes of Bangalore. At the same time, we are blessed to have the continuous guidance and encouragement from the senior faculty.
With hope in our hearts, we wish to keep shining always and moving up and beyond!
